Sorry about super late response, by this time you would have figured it out and might not be relevant. But answering it anyways

Your are right, its the identical name used in service and endpoint definition. As a basic test, i mistakenly named the endpoint differently and i found the service URL no longer works.

Summary : Service and endpoints names must be same inorder to make it work.
